  • Ready In : 4:30 h

Ingredients

  • 1lb. Ground Veal
  • 1lb Ground Sausage
  • 1lb Ground Sirloin
  • 1lb (1 pack) of your favorite Italian sausages
  • 1 14-16oz can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 14-16oz can tomatoe sauce
  • Italian breadcrumbs
  • Loaf of Italian Bread (need 6 slices)
  • 1/2 cup of milk
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 8oz bags of Italian Cheese (shred your own if you prefer, I recommend it)
  • 2 Bay leaves
  • 1tsp Salt
  • 1tsp Pepper
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
  • Garlic Powder (I recommend fresh garlic)
  • Onion Powder (I recommend 1/2 minced white onion instead)
  • 1 large potato
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1+ bottle of your favorite red wine

Method

Step 1

First, put the sausage links in the bottom of a large sauce pot, over medium heat, with 1 tbsp of butter and brown the sausage

Step 2

Once the sausage is browned, add the crushed tomatoes and the tomato sauce to the pot and mix in the brown sugar, bay leaves, 1/2 cup red wine, and potato (cut the potato into 4 large quarters for easy removal later)

Step 3

While the sauce is cooking, cube the Italian bread, and soak in milk

Step 4

Mix soaked bread with ground sausage, veal, sirloin, eggs, garlic, onion, salt, pepper, cayenne, and 3 tbsp red wine.

Step 5

Once the meat mixture is completely blended together, form a meatball of your preferred size, roll it in breadcrumbs and place it in the sauce to cook

Step 6

Once you have all meatballs in the sauce and completely covered by the sauce, cover the pot with a lid and continue to cook for about 4 hours, occasionally stirring so the sauce doesn't burn.

Step 7

Now you can use the rest of that wine to pour in a glass, sit back, and wait for the meatballs to be ready while you enjoy the aroma of the meal to come.

Additional Tips

I have a rule…
If a meatball is smaller than a racket-ball, then it is a meat-marble. Make your mamma proud with a real meatball.

Serve over linguini or put the meatballs on an Italian roll, melt provolone cheese on top and serve as a sub. Yum!
